Raw Chocolate and Raspberry Slice

Are you stuck for ideas for a healthy, nutritious snack that packs a punch and at the same time takes away cravings? Often I find I am looking for something filling yet tasty either pre or post workout or with my mid morning or afternoon cuppa.  My search is over!

All the ingredients in this Raw Chocolate and Raspberry Slice are easy to find and you will be enjoying it in no time.

You can have it on its own or mix it with yoghurt for breakfast.  Importantly it contains both berries and nuts.

Berries are known as one of the healthiest foods on the planet.  They are extremely high in antioxidants and help to fight oxidate stress caused by free radicals that can lead to illness.  They improve health and protect skin and hair.

If you are not including nuts in your regular diet you are missing out on one of the best nutrients that help you protect your heart, manage your weight, lower cholesterol and boost brain power.

Cacao powder is also one of the key ingredients.  It’s full of flavonoids that act as natural antioxidants; they protect the body from ageing.  Scientists from Cornell University in the US recently discovered that raw cacao contains nearly twice the antioxidant content of red wine, and up to three times the antioxidant content of green tea.

This is a guilt free treat that you can enjoy.

 

Ingredients

2 cups pecans

½ cups macadamia nuts

1 pinch salt

2tbs coconut oil heated

2/1 cup cacao powder

1cup frozen berries

½ cup dates

1-2 tsp coconut milk

Method

  • Firstly line a square or round pan with baking paper.
  • Process the pecan nuts in a food processer and set aside, add the remaining ingredients also into a food processer except the berries, and process until fine crumbs are formed.
  • Place the mixture into the pan prepared earlier and place in freezer to set.
  • Process the berries and add some coconut milk if needed and process until a smooth mixture is formed.
  • Place the mixture into pan and even out and place in freezer for about 2 hours to set.
